To turn version 1 support on in Debian, edit /etc/ssh/sshd_config to change Protocol 2 to Protocol 2,1 and add the line: 

  HostKey /etc/ssh/ssh_host_key


Then generate the host key with: 

  # ssh-keygen -f /etc/ssh/ssh_host_key -N '' -t rsa1


Restart he ssh server to have the changes take effect: 

  $ wajig restart ssh
