We present a step-by-step guide to installing Oracle 10g Release 1 (10.1.0.2) Enterprise/Standard Edition for Linux x86 on a Debian unstable installation as of 2004-06-04. You may also find some useful information at http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/smiley_10gdb_install.html.

Be sure that gcc and libc6-dev are installed. And note that Oracle places its log file in /home/app/oracle/oraInventory/logs/.
