First build the iso9660 image: 

  $ mkisofs -r -o cdimage.raw /home


Check that it looks okay: 

  $ mount -t iso9660 -o ro,loop=/dev/loop0 cdimage.raw /mnt
  $ ls /mnt
  $ umount /mnt


Write the CD: 

  # cdrecord -v speed=8  dev=1,1,0 -data cdimage.raw         Altrop
  # cdrecord -v speed=8  dev=0,1,0 -data cdimage.raw         Mint
  # cdrecord -v speed=16 dev=0,0,0 -data cdimage.raw         Festival
